Have you Heard of Timeless Fence System?
For those of you who have been following along, you know we are preparing our property for goats. The biggest thing we need to do is change the fence from 5 strands of barbed wire to something a bit more goat-proof. We are currently working on an approximate 2 acre pasture. We were originally planning on using chain link or 2×4 welded wire. But, we finally saw the light and realized 5-6 strands of electric high tensile wire is the way to go!
We have spent weeks tearing down the barbed wire and clearing a path through the woods. During this time, we have also researched different fence post options. Have you heard of the PVC T-posts from Timeless Fence? That’s right: the T-posts are PVC – not metal! There are many benefits to using these, but one of the most obvious is there’s no need for an additional insulator. The more we have learned about the product and the company, the more we are in love!
The Timeless Fence System Company has Stellar Customer Service
Last week we had the opportunity to meet with a consultant from Timeless Fence System. He invited us to the factory so we could have hands on with the product and learn about all of the accessories we will need for building our high tensile electric fence. This tour had nothing to do with our social media presence…it’s just the way they do business! Let me back up…about 3 weeks ago, we reached out to Mike McElroy, our regional consultant from Timeless Fence to get some questions answered, both about electric fences in general and their product specifically. He spent about 40 minutes on the phone with us educating us and answering all of our questions. He then invited us out to the factory to see the fences they have there and to learn more about the Timeless Fence System.
Not only is their product locally made in Greeneville, TN, their customer service so far has been stellar! Having moved from the ‘burbs, James and I have no prior experience with building an electric fence. Mike patiently described to us how to know when to use different kinds of posts and braces, showed us how the wires should be crimped together, demonstrated how spring gates work (and which direction the handle should be from the energizer), described how the grounding system is installed, explained the reasoning between alternating hot and cold wire for small ruminants, and so much more!
How the Timeless Fence System Stand Apart from Traditional Fences
No, I am not turning into a salesman. But, if you need to put up a new electric fence, I would highly recommend Timeless Fence System. Their system uses scrap PVC material that is reground and shaped into PVC T-posts with a UV protective coating. Because the T-posts are made from PVC, no additional insulators are required, saving time and money!
The posts are pre-drilled with holes every 6 inches, giving you options of how you want to position your wire. They also come with a bury line to show you when they are deep enough in the ground. The selling feature for me is their flexibility and memory. If something happens to the fence (like a tree falls on it), the T-posts will bend; once the tree is removed, they will spring back up and all you might need to do is tighten the high tensile wire. If I have piqued your interest, head over to their website at Timeless Fence System and request their free catalog and product samples!
More than Just a Fence: Also Support Regenerative Agriculture!
In addition to the Timeless Fence System, their facility is also the home of the USA Regenerative Agriculture Alliance. Their mission is to educate and empower every one to use regenerative management practices. They will be holding two free workshops in addition to their 3 day summit this year. Hopefully, either James or I will be able to attend these and learn more about regenerative agriculture and how we can restore the soil health on our farm. You’ve got to love a company that is so passionate about teaching best agricultural practices!
Our New Fence Plan
So, with all this being said, James and I are stoked about using the Timeless Fence System for our first pasture. At this point, we will only be purchasing their T-posts. They also have H-posts and braces, however, we are opting to use the traditional wood posts for this pasture as they are already put in on half of the fenceline. When we work on fencing in our additional pastures, we will most likely try using these other components.
And to end this post, If you contact your regional consultant, be sure to ask about what promotions and discounts they are currently offering! We found that they do offer a discount to members of the Farmer Veteran Coalition. I hope that you will be as pleased with this company and their product as we are!
